Welcome to the first edition of the new
publication 1884, which is being led by students and edited by members of the
School of History, Philosophy and Social Sciences at Bangor University.
In
this journal, we aim to bring together students and staff with an interest in
the humanities, and it is a great forum for those studying subjects in this
School and beyond.
This
first issue contains articles on an exciting variety of subjects including
veganism, Chinese history, Irish rebel songs, a social media lesbian community,
humour in history, and includes a research conference paper by Dr Mark Hagger
on ‘What the Normans did for us?’.
We
hope you enjoy this issue, and if you’re interested in contributing in future
please get in touch with us (contact details below).
See you in the next issue!
Tom Wilkinson-Gamble & Molly Southward
